ResearchEquals will be a generic piece of software to be installed by anyone, hence, the homepage will remain fairly generic too. The homepage should not become a marketing tool for the software itself, more so for the person/org behind the installation.

Getting inspired by Existing Research Information Systems (RIS)

Pure

Pure portals seem to do this too. They follow a general structure with some adjustments for the organization itself (see image)
image

  1. Welcome message
  2. search box
  3. Core statistics on profiles, outputs, press, etc.
  4. General description
  5. Linking to UN SDGs
  6. World map with collaborations
  7. Topics as identified by proprietary model

The UX here leaves something to be desired, but clearly there are plenty of orgs that see this as valuable enough for their purposes.

DSpace(-CRIS)

DSpace is variable as it is customizable upon installation. The exact variant depends on the version of DSpace, and whether they are using DSpace or DSpace-CRIS. This is not always

It seems like DSpace provides:

  1. Listing of entries (initial page or enumeration)
  2. Some meta statistics (profiles etc)
  3. General description
  4. News
